2025 Moto3 world championship at Indonesia MotoGP Results

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Pedro Acosta bounced back to the top of the MotoGP race classification at the Mandalika International Circuit today. The Spaniard finished runner-up on the KTM RC16 and was followed by Brad Binder with a season-best P4. In Moto3 Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda is the 2025 world champion with four races still to run this season.

  • Pedro Acosta takes his third podium of 2025 and equals his best MotoGP finish with a hard-won 2nd place after a lively and attacking performance in Indonesia
  • Brad Binder fights up to 4th position and his highest classification of 2025 so far
  • Enea Bastianini retires with a technical issue as Maverick Viñales elects to not race at Mandalika to continue his recovery from left shoulder surgery
  • 2025 Moto3 is done and dusted thanks to Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda finishing P1 with the KTM RC4 and becoming the fourth champion for the team in the category
27 long laps of the 4.3km Mandalika International Circuit were accompanied by high temperatures, persistent sunshine and noise from an eager 67,900 race day attendance on Lombok. The fourth Grand Prix for the new venue began with Pedro Acosta starting from 5th on the grid, Brad Binder in 15th and Enea Bastianini in 17th.
Acosta made a customary fiery start to elbow his way to the holeshot by the first corner. Binder and ‘Bestia’ conjured a few strong moves to gain places in the critical early phases and then establish a race rhythm that would also extend tire life around the slick Indonesian asphalt.
Acosta led the pack and a large group of riders for six laps and then tussled with countryman Fermin Aldeguer before having to manage his pace. Binder had his teammate in view as he fought for the top five while Bastianini was forced to retire. Pedro attacked and grabbed 2nd place in the closing circulation for his second podium run in a row at Mandalika as Binder carved through to 4th; two spots higher than his previous MotoGP best in 2025. Acosta’s 20 points lifted him back to P5 in the championship standings.

Japan, Indonesia and now a brief pause for MotoGP. The pace will crank up significantly with the trip to Phillip Island and the Australian Grand Prix in two weeks.

Pedro Acosta, 2nd and 5th in the championship standings:“We have to be happy! We made exactly what we planned: a good start and to be 1st or close to 1st in the initial part of the race. We knew it would be hard for us because it was not an option to use the same front tire as the rest. It was tricky to manage this, the tire pressure also. I think I am becoming a better rider, more mature and making better races. We are constant in the top five and on the podium again. We gave our best. I want to thank KTM, my Crew Chief and all my mechanics.”

Brad Binder, 4th and 11th in the championship standings: “Much more happy with how today went. We made quite a big change in warm-up and straightaway I felt more confident with the front-end. I felt like I was turning better and it was more planted. I could push more. Happy to come through the field and better my starting position by a long way. Looking forward to see if we can try and keep this momentum rolling now. Happy also to be back in the fight.”

Enea Bastianini, DNF and 14th in the championship standings: “A tough weekend for me. Yesterday the guys worked a lot to give me the best bike for today but in the end something happened. It’s OK. I wasn’t able to do a fantastic race today. We have to work and understand in the future to do something more. We were competitive in fast corners and I was quicker in sector two as well. We now know what we can do on the bike to compete.”
Aki Ajo, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager: “A great day for us after what had been a challenging weekend in Mandalika. For sure we need to be really happy about today’s results and after the Sprint the expectations were quite high for the longer race today. We had the potential. It was a very hard race for everyone on the grid and unfortunately Enea could not finish but Pedro and Brad fought all the way until the end and this was an important set of results. It has been a tough year for us but we have found a way to progress and results like these helps keep the positive mindset.”

KTM GP Academy
Moto3 began for 20 laps of Mandalika and with a lot of expectation for the KTM GP Academy. KTM had already secured the 2025 Constructors title in the category but Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda stood on the edge of his first world title in just his third season in the class. The Spaniard started from P9 and the third row with teammate Alvaro Carpe just ahead in P4 and Red Bull KTM Tech3’s Jacob Roulstone also in proximity with P13. Valentin Perrone had been declared unfit for the race after his heavy practice crash on Friday
The leading group traded positions, lines and occasionally contact. Carpe was a victim of another rider’s mistake, was hit off the bike and lost the chance to push for the podium. Rueda meanwhile kept away from the drama and powered to the front. When the race was red-flagged near the finale, Jose Antonio had his ninth win of the campaign and the points to confirm his ‘gold helmet’. He has racked-up 13 podiums from 18 this season. Roulstone rode strongly to record P5: his best ranking in the class yet.

Jose Antonio Rueda: “Incredible. I have dreamed of this day since I was six years old. It is hard to find the correct words but I want to thank my parents for everything they have done for me and for teaching me the right way about life. Also, to everybody that has helped me along the way and from the beginning of this journey. I’m so happy right now.”
Jacob Roulstone: “Very pleased with my race! I think I did the best first few laps of my career, and I am very happy with our start. I struggled a bit from mid-race with the front tire because I attacked a lot at the start, so maybe I cooked it a bit too much. Messy race, the hottest and most challenging one, but I am really happy, and relieved, to score a top 5.”
For Moto2 Collin Veijer harbored hopes of prime Grand Prix points due to a start position of P7 and thanks to his qualifying lap-time that was just half a second from Pole Position. The Dutchman recovered from a start that saw him in P12 for the first phases of the 22 laps. He upped his pace to capture 9th place by the flag. Daniel Muñoz started from P17 and for what was the rookie’s second race at Mandalika. The Spaniard hovered around the top 15 and Grand Prix points before ranking P18 by the finish.
