Busted: Mainstream scooters (Zuma, Vino, MP3 250) return 65–110+ MPG with urban duty cycles.
- Myth: Big cruisers always guzzle.
Busted: Many 1300–1700cc cruisers hover high‑30s to mid‑40s MPG when geared and loaded smartly.
2009 Fuel Economy Strategies
- Optimize commute bikes in the 125–300cc class (WR250R, Ninja 250R, scooters) to stay 65–100+ MPG.
- Tour on FJR1300, Concours 14, and R1200RT with smooth throttle, correct tire pressures, and minimal luggage for ~40–47 MPG.
- ADV: pick singles/twins (KLR650, F650GS/F800GS) and gear for terrain; mid‑50s MPG is realistic with conservative pace.
- Performance: 600–1000cc supersports can maintain low‑40s MPG cruising; avoid prolonged high RPM and aggressive aero add‑ons.
