· The Grand Prix of the Valencian Community is the last round of the 2025 Motorcycle World Championship, and, at the same time, it represents a debut GP for Pirelli as the Italian tyre manufacturer has never raced at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia with the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes. For the Moto2™ riders, the rear supersoft in E0126 specification, which made its debut in the Austrian GP, and soft in E0125 specification, both widely appreciated and used by riders of the intermediate class, are back on the scene. These are two development solutions that share the same structure applied to the compounds of their respective standard options. The two rears can similarly be combined with a pair of front options: the soft SC1 and the medium SC2, both of which are standard solutions. · While Moto2™ will be able to count on two rear development solutions, in Moto3™ the riders can rely on the standard allocation consisting of soft SC1 and medium SC2 for both axles that have already shown excellent performance throughout the season. · Although Pirelli carried out a test with Moto2™ and Moto3™ riders at the end of the 2023 season before its official debut in 2024 as the sole supplier to these classes, the tyre company has never competed in a Grand Prix in this circuit until now. In fact, last year’s event that was supposed to close the World Championship was cancelled due to the devastating flood that hit Valencia a few days earlier. We close the season capitalising on the development work done this year “This is the first time we race in Valencia with riders from the Moto2™ and Moto3™ classes because in 2024, our debut year, the races were cancelled due to the tragic flooding that hit the Spanish city a few days before the GP. In the absence of race data to base ourselves on, we have therefore decided to offer the Moto2™ riders the two most popular rear development solutions this year, I am referring to the supersoft in specification E0126 and the soft E0125. Two tyres that share the same structure, an evolution of the current standard one, and which use the same compounds as the standard options, the supersoft SCX and the soft SC0 respectively. The work we have done this year has therefore focused on the structure while keeping the compounds unchanged and the results achieved have been very positive. Both the E0126 and the E0125 have always obtained the preferences of all riders in direct comparison with their respective standard solutions. The E0126 made its successful debut at the Red Bull Ring and was then also used at Misano in September, while the E0125 was brought to Silverstone for the first time and was then allocated to nine other GPs. When, as in Austria and Italy, both were present, the supersoft E0126 always won the comparison with the E0125 simply because the softer compound offers even more grip, but a lot also depends on the asphalt conditions and the temperatures we will find in Valencia. If it gets hot enough then we expect the supersoft E0126 to be favoured here as well, otherwise the riders will know they can count on the soft E0125 that is more protected from the potential for graining caused by the cold with the softer compounds.” |
