A Legendary Ride: TMW Forums Park but the Spirit Never Stops!

With over 334,667 posts, 46,400 topics and 20,598 members our TMW Motorcycle Community Forums are set to go into park, but the Total Motorcycle Spirit Never Stops. Started back in 2002 before Social Media and long before ChatBots, the forum community has enjoyed a Legendary Ride. Members were unselfishly there for new riders, biking companions, and complete strangers, offering up advice, tips, comments, and friendly criticism as well. Hundreds of millions of motorcyclists have read the posts and who knows how many hundreds of thousands of riders are riding because of this. We all made a wonderful difference in so many lives around the world!

Our Total Motorcycle Website mantra, which also applies to our TMW Community Forum, has always been our: Helpful, Friendly, Unbiased and Useful. We always stated “No matter what you ride, where you ride or how you ride, you are welcome here” and that’s not going to change one bit as our TMW Forums retire.

Speaking of the Forums retiring, it’s a sad time indeed but the Forums have played an awesome role in not only helping people but building the Total Motorcycle Website and brand. Just because the forums are retiring, the site is not! And the extra resources will be put to great use on the website to make the TMW #1 experience and even better one!

So around September 1st, the forums will be removed, all data and posts will be deleted for maximum privacy, and any forum URL will be redirected to our main site. I cannot thank you enough for the 23 years, a whole lifetime for some, for the wonderful journey, the incredible memories, and the fun times in our community forums.

I also want to thank my incredible volunteer moderators, without whom the forums wouldn’t be possible! And my host, idleserv.net for their invaluable support in upgrading, troubleshooting and fixing the forums since they started! If you ever need hosting, I can’t recommend them enough.

Please visit the forums right away to save any of your posts and photos, and don’t forget to post a farewell message as well, here!!

Please continue to enjoy the Total Motorcycle main site with all the new 2026 Motorcycle Guides, Daily Motorcycle News and more! Perhaps even join in on the conversation on X at @TotalMotorcycle (https://x.com/TotalMotorcycle). Keep supporting Total Motorcycle, visiting and putting out the Word of Mouth, we are here for riders around the world!

My heartfelt thanks and gratitude to you all,

Michael Le Pard

So, what’s behind the decision? – Riding On: Forum Spirit Lives

With AI bots in the tens of thousands looking to train on all information from across the internet, our forums have been targeted in the past year and that trend has accelerated greatly in the past few months. Every site from OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic, Cohere, Meta AI, xAI, Google, Bing, Apple, Yandex, Huawei, TikTok, Semrush, Babbar, ByteDance, Ahrefs, Majestic‑12 and Blex/WebMeUp (to name a few) want massive amounts of data. We are now consistently seeing 420,000 bots per day scraping the forums. Unfortunately we just can’t keep up with that incredible bandwidth abuse or stop AI’s disrespect of our members 335,000 posts. Combine that with everyone’s overwhelming preference for social media over forums and unfortunately the forums just can’t compete. People want replies in seconds and forums are hours slow as people have to think and write back. While forums have community and spirit, it’s just not valued enough in today’s world, unfortunately.

The Final Curtain – From Forum to New Roads

As mentioned, the TMW Community Forums will be sunsetting around September 1st, 2025. With the additional resources freed up, the Total Motorcycle website will feature even more of want you love, will load even faster and it should be able to ride even further down the highway.
